Lord Aylmer Home & School Student Volunteer Award
Recognizing Excellence in Student Volunteering
Celebrating the positive impact of volunteering within our Lord Aylmer School Community

Introduction
The Lord Aylmer Home & School Association (hereinafter "Home & School") is a non-profit volunteer organization composed of parents, guardians, teachers, school staff and community members. Our mission is to enhance the education and general well-being of our students by encouraging a closer relationship between the home, the school and the community.

Our Home & School has championed the introduction of a Student Volunteer Award to recognize a graduating student within our school community who has excelled as a volunteer and demonstrated leadership, innovation, dedication and has had a positive and meaningful impact on their peers, teachers and school staff (hereinafter "school community").

Selection Process
The Home & School Award’s Committee will work closely with the principal, teachers and school staff to choose a recipient of the award whom we feel excels in one or more of the Eligibility Criteria. The criteria are broad, enabling us to adapt them to our requirements, while providing consistency and continuity at the same time.

Submission Process
The submission process is open to all teachers and support staff within the school who have worked with the students throughout the years, and who continue to do so within and outside of the classroom.

A Student Volunteer Award Submission Form must be completed for each student being submitted for consideration. This will include the name of the student, the criteria they have met, and a short bio. This will give the Home & School Award’s Committee a better understanding of the achievements of each student and their impact on the school community. It will also provide background information that we will use when we present the award the to student during the Grade 6 Graduation Ceremony.

The first name of the student, a short bio, and a picture of the student receiving the award will be published on the Lord Aylmer Home & School website and our social media. The parents or guardians must have signed the school’s media consent form.

Presentation of the Award
As the Home & School Student Volunteer Award is for a grade 6 graduating student, the Home & School President or Vice-President will present the award during the Grade 6 Graduation Ceremony in June.

Type of Award
The Home & School Student Volunteer Award winner's name will be added to a large plaque that will be displayed at the Senior Campus. During the Grade 6 Graduation Ceremony, our Home & School President or Vice-President will award a medal to the winning student and a $100 scholarship.

The Home & School Award's Committee will be responsible for adding the name to the plaque and purchasing the student's medal, as well as the $100 scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria
The recipient of the Home & School Student Volunteer Award must be a Grade 6 graduating student from Lord Aylmer School. He or she must meet at least one of the following criteria:

Leadership: A student who excels in leadership may have run their own volunteering project or taken a lead in a school and/or Home & School project or event. The student will have been responsible for guiding other students, being a team player and/or volunteering themselves.

Innovation: A student who has challenged the status quo in order to make a positive difference in the school community. The student will have taken the initiative to affect change for the causes they care about. Being an inspiration to other volunteers, the student demonstrates a sincere and compassionate interest in the dignity, uniqueness and well-being of their peers, as well as the equity and diversity of their school community.

Dedication: This is an opportunity to reward the most committed and hard working of volunteers who may not be at the forefront of running projects but can be relied on continually.

Impact: A student who has had a proven impact through volunteering and social action. The student has affected real change for the school community by demonstrating his or her dedication to making things happen, not just in the short term, but with a sustainable vision for the future.
