This week is I Love to Read Week! Each day this week, teachers and staff will ask their students to “drop” what they’re doing and pick up a book instead. Drop Everything And Read (DEAR) is a fun and rewarding activity that teaches kids a love of reading by letting them choose a well-loved book. As well, to further encourage our kids to show their enthusiasm for reading, the school has organized some planned events for each day of the week. Monday: Hats Off to Reading! Make sure to wear a hat to school. Tuesday: Tie Yourself Up in a Good Book! Don't forget to wear a fun tie. Wednesday: Open your Eyes to the Joys of Reading! You've got a crazy pair of glasses? Make sure to bring them! Thursday: Reading Lights Up your Life! Bring your flashlight for lots of reading fun! Friday: Dress-Up as your Favourite Book Character! That's right! It's dress-up time! The school is also inviting parents and members of the community to read with students throughout the week. To volunteer, you must provide a security background check, fill-out the pink form distributed by the school (or print off the copy below) and send it in with your child's agenda or drop it off at either the Junior or Senior Campus. Please note: This activity is organized by the Lord Aylmer School and not by the Home & School, which is a non-profit volunteer organization composed of parent members. We are simply helping spread the word!
